Music Crossing Borders Presents:
Take A Tour™!

MCB's Take A Tour™ program introduces students to music from cultures around globe in an engaging and interactive way. In the initial 30-45 minute assembly, students will learn about the Blues, Jazz, African percussion, Afro-Cuban, Dixieland and Klezmer music. Each subsequent program (detailed below) delves deeper into the material covered in the initial program.

The Blues and Beyond:

Building off the material covered in the initial Take a Tour™ assembly program, The Blues and Beyond delves deeper into the roots of modern pop, rock and jazz music. This program introduces students to the blues form: where it came from, why it's important and how it has affected the music we hear today!

JAZZ:

A great 'next step' program to The Blues and Beyond, Jazz is designed in the same energetic, interactive manner of all MCB assemblies, this time with the focus on JAZZ! Topics include: swing, improvising, instruments in the band, big band, bebop, Latin Jazz and Free Jazz!

The Language of Music:

With a focus on African drumming, this program teaches students all about African percussion instruments and how music truly is the Universal Language!

¡Música y Ritmo!:

Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia and Samba are just a few of the topics covered in this high- energy tour of Latin America! This program includes examples of the major styles of music from Latin America, where they came from and how they have influenced music all across the globe! The six-member MCB Band is joined onstage with two award-winning professional dancers to help bring this energetic music to life!
